PC games on a 1920x1080 24" monitor?

Do they distort/stretch when played at this unusual HD resolution due to scaling?

I've heard that if the monitor has 1:1 pixel mapping, one can game at 1920x1080 (if the game supports it) without any scaling problems. Is this true?

I'd be grateful for any advice/info. G

P.S. Remember this query is for PC games only

Well I think I found my answer from this very helpful site click here. If one clicks on the 'Detailed report' link for any particular game, it gives the popular resolutions tested to be OK (or not), with screenshots to see how the game actually looks. Brilliant!

It appears this res is supported after all in most of the games I play :-).

Ticking this as resolved, but people are free to add comments/advice/queries if they wish. G

I run mine at 1900 x 1200 only a couple of my older games don't support this and I have never seen any distortion

1900 x 1200 is common res for a 24" monitor & games, whereas 1920 x 1080 isn't - the latter is 'more widescreen' (16:9) than the former (16:10). G
