Need help updating my gaming rig.

Alright. My PC was built by a buddy of mine a few years back, let's say in 2011. I've replaced a couple parts by then with wear and tear, but mostly it is all now older technology. I'm a total noob when it comes to computers, but I've done a little digging, and think I found some stuff that works together.

AMD FX-8320 Vishera 8-Core 3.5GHz Processor

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 MOBO

GIGABYTE GV-R928XOC-3GD REV3 Radeon R9 280X Video Card.

I'm planning on keeping my current case, power supply and RAM, although I'm not sure if my case will still fit it all, since it is new technolog and processors look different now days.

I'm looking to end up with a mid-high range gaming PC, and just trying to figure out if this stuff is any good, or if I should be Googling up another tree. She just doesn't handle high graphics settings like she used to.
