Okay, so around a year ago I got my Msi GS70 Stealth Pro. I've always had my doubts if this laptop was living to its full potential but i have not inquired properly about it. Up till now, i started playing Witcher 3 who's minimum Pc requirments and Recommended are shown below:

MINIMUM: OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1) Processor: Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz / AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940 Memory: 6 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660 / AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870 Hard Drive: 35 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1) Processor: Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3.4 GHz / AMD CPU AMD FX-8350 4 GHz Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770 / AMD GPU Radeon R9 290 Hard Drive: 35 GB available space

And here are the specs for the GS70:

17.3" 1,920 x 1,080 IPS LCD (130 ppi) 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-4700HQ 16GB DDR3 1,600MHz RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M GPU 6GB GDDR5 3 x 128GB SSD RAID 0 1TB HDD 7200rpm SteelSeries keyboard backlit in full color 4 x USB 3.0 , HDMI, 2 x DisplayPort Wi-Fi b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet Windows 8.1 5.9 pounds, 16.47" x 11.29" x 0.85" inches

As you can see my laptop well goes over the requirements needed. Checking online i should be able to play on ultra settings with no issues. Yet i find myself having to play on the lowest setting with an average performance ingame, otherwise if i try to go any higher the game lags so much making it unplayable.

Yes i have made sure the game is using the Nvidia Graphics card not the inbuilt one.

I have updated to the latest driver.

I have had similar issue before with games such as BF4 and Shadow of Mordor, where if you check online you'll find gameplay of people using this exact laptop and playing on ultra with no issues, I have to go to the lowest settings.

I don't think this is relevant but this was the display piece in the shop as it was the last one they had.

Appreciate any help or suggestions you can give.

click here benchmarks would suggest your gpu is behind the gtx 660 which is minimum requirement hence you are having issues

sorry, but for some reason this information was wrong. i have Nvidia GTX 765M, is this considerably worse?

Mobile graphics cards are much worse than the desktops ones. The GTX 870M is much worse than GTX 770.

Also you need to try playing whilst plugged in if you haven't done so. PLaying whilst plugged in gives you MUCH better performance.
