Hi I'm not extremely knowledgeable but trying to learn so please be patient with me ;-)

Here are my specs: Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A785TD-V EVO (AM3) RAM: 4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 535MHz (7-7-7-20) CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Deneb 45nm Technology Graphics: W2243 ([email protected]) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 (Gigabyte) Storage: 931GB Seagate ST31000524AS ATA Device (SATA)

I want to upgrade to 16GB of RAM.

I was advised to get 2x 8GB sticks CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

On installing them my PC failed to start up. Just a black screen and nothing. I know the slots used work fine as everything is operating fine again having re-inserted my original RAM.

Can anyone tell me whether I have got the wrong RAM, faulty new RAM or whether I should be using 4x 4GB sticks?

If I have the wrong RAM could you tell me what I should get to boost my PC to 16GB?

Many many thanks :-)

If you go to Crucial website (google crucial RAM), there's a diagnostic tool on there which will tell you exactly what RAM you need.
