Crossfire Query

Can someone who knows more about hardware than I do please tell me if two identical ATI 4870 graphics cards in Crossfire will produce any lesser performance than a single ATI 4870x2 card?

An 4870x2 will perform slightly better than 2 cards in crossfire as it's 2 4870's on a single card and doesn't have to bother bridging the crossfire setup.
Depending on the game,we are only talking about perhaps 3 - 5 fps difference as they are supposed to be (and are) comparable.

Thanks mrwoowoo
the pc with crossfire GPU's is mainly used for Flight Sim. I know that software is more CPU dependant than other games and I have a corei7 processor. Appreciate and accept your reply. I was just curious as I could not find anything definitive on the subject elsewhere
