My grandson tried to play a 95/98 Atari game on my XP computer. When he loaded it and an error message came up " Q*bertPreInstaller MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close" . Even though it hasn`t opened.
Should I be able to play these games on this computer? or is there anything I can download to enable him to play his games.
Thank you
Jaycey

in properties try 'compatibility mode'.

Not sure what games ur trying to play, so not sure if the above is the solution, but worth a look anyhow.

You might need to download dosbox click here
This will give you a proper dos window and prompt.

For the stubborn 95/98 games that won't work in Vista I use Microsoft Virtual PC running Win98SE, if it's a DOS game I'll use DOSBox.

Thanks people, its just a pc game on disc - I used to play game this when my children had an Atari console. The game is called QBert, the error message comes up as soon as the disc is put in, it does nothing else. Maybe the disc is damaged.
