Wrong battery charger?

Not really a digital question as such but the batteries are for a camera. My daughter has charged some brand new NiMH 2500mAh batteries on an older NiCad charger. They were on charge for about 5 hours. Will this have damaged the batteries in any way?

Probably not as long as they were the correct way round in the charger.

Good job she didn't do it with lithium batts.

No big deal, but get a proper NiMH charger, they're cheap enough. NiMH need to be charged for approx. 5-7 hours to attain full charge.

Thanks for the advice. Got a proper NiMH charger now. They seem to have got some charge from the NiCad charger, in fact more than an Alkaline already. However, they will only be going on the proper charger from now on.
