video editing software

I've just got my hands on a panasonic camcorder which i'll be using to make highly random vids. only prob is that the software that came with it is RUBBISH! i've had to install a firewire (?) card to download the vid to the PC (even though it's USB)

question is, what video editing software is good for n00bz like myself? i'm using windows movie maker but this isn't the best. would be looking at something a step up from that if poss.

many thanks in advance

Pinnacle studio V9 onwards (I use it), Ulead,Adobe Premiere Elements, to name just a few. They all take some getting into if you are a newbe. You also need a good spec PC. David
