VCR to Sony HC42E - no visual just audio

Hello,
I want to transfer some footage which is on VHS to my Sony HC42E (Mini DV). I have followed the instructions as best I can. I can get the audio onto the Mini DV, but no visual picture. I have connected the camcorder using the A/V connector - then the red and yellow to the VCR.

Can anybody point me in the right direction with what I maybe doing wrong? Is there a setting I am missing on the camcorder?

Thanks.

Assuming your VHS is a stereo one......... you need to connect the red and white leads to the audio out and the yellow one to video out. In my experience, VHS VCRs often don't have a video out socket. You might need a SCART to phono adaptor - something like this:

then follow the instructions as MCE2K5 suggests

Hope this helps
