Hi I have an old Flash unit its about 8 years since I bought it and used it.
It’s a Sunpak PZ 4000AF I used it on a 35mm canon 50E.
I have given it flash test and it works.

The ideal lens was a 28mm X 80 which covered the zoom rang of the Sunpak now it would be approximately 15 X 44mm. Sorry but I am lost here how dose the flash read the zoom lens?

I need a wire to go from a Canon 40D, to the Sunpak flash unit, as I am using it on an extended arm.
which has four pins in line, (Round Plastic Pin) (Metal Round Pin) (Square Plastic Pin) (Metal Round Pin).
That’s if the old unit is compatible to Digital.

Maybee a few hours before I get back.

Ignore the Above

Hi just to rephrase the above after more research I see I need cord from my Hotshoe on camera to hotshoe on my L Bracket which is attached to the camera.
My Camera is a Canon 40D.
The Flashunit – Sunpak PZ 4000AF.
I cant find a cord so need help.
Will a Tamron 28mmX80mm lens read the flash zoom correctly, or will it X by 1.6 – 38 X 128.

ot sure if you will retain TTL metering with the Sunpack, but these "cords" are available at most decent camera shops.

Hi hssutton after further reading I think I will go for Canon 430EX Mark II Speedlight.
From what I read it can be used on FF and APC-s and will set its-self accordingly when attached to a camera.
It has a range of 14mm-105mm = 22mm 168mm on the 40D.
If you or anyone can advise on other flashunits I would be grateful.

The 430EX works extremely well with the 40D.

For further understanding have a read here.
