southwing sf605 bluetooth device

As I don't like to wander about with a large piece of plastic stuck to my ear I bought a Southwing SF605 hands-free bluetooth speaker kit to use with my mobile phone in the car. This has worked fine over the past 15 months but has now developed a weird problem. For no apparent reason it has started switching itself on and then just sits there making apparently random beeps. I can't switch it off so it just carries on until the battery runs down.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Although it has not been extremely heavily used I suspect it is on its way out, but if anyone has a solution I would be interested to hear it. Alternatively anyone considering purchasing this device or a similar product may wish to bear this issue in mind.
