Recording from a Virgin+ Box to a DVD/HDD Recorder

  snow0r 11:26 18 May 08

I've taped a bunch of TV shows on my V+ box, and under V+ Extras, it says I can record these onto my DVD recorder.

So I set it up to tape a couple of episodes from the V+ box onto the DVD recorder, and the V+ thing seems to work fine: it asks me to press record on my DVD recorder, then the V+ box pops up saying "Copying..." and continues to let me watch TV.

However! When it's done, I find that my DVD recorder has just recorded whatever happened to be on the TV at the time, and not the TV shows that the V+ box thinks it should be taping.

I've tried ringing Virgin and they're a bit clueless, and I figure the wires at the back must be set up wrong, but I've tried lots of combinations and can't get any to work.

The V+ Box has two SCART sockets, TV & VCR, and my DVD recorder also has two SCART sockets. The "aerial" input on the DVD player is connected to the TV OUT socket on the V+ box, and the RF Out on the DVD player is connected to the TV.

What am I doing wrong? Help!

I don't have Virgin, but in general terms you should follow this practice.

1) plug a scart lead from the Virgin box to the DVDR
2) select the external input (eg AV1, AV2 or Ext1 or Ext 2) on the DVD.
3)play something on the Virgin box.
4)Select the DVD on your TV
5) check you can see the Virgin box picture.

If you can, then you can record the Virgin box
