I have just bought a new computer which has a TV card and access to the Windows (Vista) Media Centre. I can watch TV programmes and record programmes to my hard disc. Is it possible to record programmes to a DVD and play them back on my TV set via my DVD player? If so, how do I configure this?

I have MCE in XP Pro so it mat be different. Use the guide to select a programme you want to record. Then there should be an option to burn a disc in MCE. It should give an option to burn as video - not data disc - ensure disc is "finalised". It takes ages (about as long as the programme) as the tv is stored in .dvr-ms format and it has to be transcoded into video format to view on stand alone DVD players. I use DVD - RW so I can reuse them. There are other programmes that can do this such as Roxio Copy and Convert (about £25)

Thanks for the advice John. I will give it a try.
