is this normal (medion music player)?

I bought a Medion 81018 mp3/wma/wma9(secure) player. It plays songs that I've purchased of napster which I thought were secured/protected with the new WMA DRM10. I was just wondering how a DRM9 player can play DRM10 protected songs. The Medion device is not even in the microsoft supported devices list, so I'm amazed and glad it plays WMA DRM10. Any explanation would be nice of how this player can do this.

Perhaps you're thinking about this the wrong way around. Maybe the DRM coding is backward compatible so that it will accept a player that uses an older version of DRM.

About the only thing that I can think of, not being a DRM expert.

Yeh could be true. Although if that is the case, I remember one man saying he bought a new drm10 player to play the new music that subscription services were using. I feel sorry for him as he already had a drm9 player.
