Media Player won't rip as MP3 ???

  Bad Beagle 21:37 04 Mar 07

I have no problem ripping my CDs using Media Player 11 as long as I am set to rip as WMA. However my daughter's phone won't play WMA, only MP3s. I have tried chnging options in Rip to MP3 but then it won't rip my CDs and I get this message "Windows Media Player cannot rip one or more tracks from the CD."
What am I doing wrong ?

Any help much appreciated as ever.

Media player requires a plug-in to convert to MP3 its not free. Someone else might be able to advise on a free option.

Rip as WMA then convert the files into MP3 format using WinLame (free audio converter).

You could also get a free MP3 codec for WMP from:

In any case as you have WMP11 it should rip files as MP3s - perhaps the CDs are protected?

Have you also Enabled all the File Types from Tools>Options>File Types, which include MP3?

Plus the Rip Music tab configuration?
