CAN ANY ONE HELP A CONFUSED SILVER SURFER
I WILL BE PURCHASING A 40” LCD TV I DOWN LOADED THE MANUAL
IT SAID DO NOT DISPLAY ANY STILL PICTURES OR DVDS WHICH
HAVE BLACK STRIPS TOP AND BOTTOM OR ON SIDES AS IT WILL LEAVE
AN IMPRINT ON THE SCREEN.
MOST DVDS TODAY ARE IN LETTER BOX FORMAT WHICH HAS
TOP AND BOTTOM BLACK STRIPS
WHATS IS IT ALL ABOUT!!!!REGARDS

I think most displays, LCD, Plasma and CRT suffer some 'memory effect' in that a still picture will over time leave a permanent image burnt on the screen.

The occassional letterbox DVD interspersed with normal TV images I would have thought would be OK, but I have no personal knowledge to back this up.

Please do not SHOUT (caps letters).
The occassional slide show etc will not do any damage. Perhaps if you left the same image on the screen for a very long time, then yes it would leave a fine trace on the screen . David

David is correct it really is only if you leave the same image on the screen for a long time you get whats called screen burn.
Sky programmes are the worst they have permanent logos on most of their channels,if you have sky plus and you leave it in pause with the tv on it may leave some screen image,some tvs are prone to it some are not,
