There are many types of Chip Sets available for DVD player/burners and the disc acceptance list varies between them all.
Commercial -'stamped' disks[movies] play on them all
but the 8 types of burned formats can vary.
RW disks CD or DVD are renowned for only playing on the equipment that made them
So to get one playing on a TV style player is good fortune indeed.
Strangely it is the ASDA or Curry's £20 cheapie that can be the most versatile.
