dvd content problem

  Super Frankie Lamps 20:09 09 Jan 07

my boy was given Pirates of The Caribbean dvd for xmas and has no problem playing it on portable dvd player. However, when trying to play it with powerdvd or wmp an error message appears saying unable to play as the disc is protected content. Never had this happen before, and he will be gutted if he can't play dvd's on his pc, so help please.

p.s. hope this is in the right forum

I don't know the answer but I'll try and bump you to the top in the hope someone does.Just a shot in the dark, was the Dvd disc bought in the UK - is it for playing on region 2 to which I guess your PC Dvd player is set?

these types of playability problems are almost always resolved by downloading the latest drivers or software for the equipment and operating system involved. suggestion exploring the website of the graphics card manufacturer for a more recent driver.

but the latest drivers were installed when i tried to play dvd. since downloaded some codecs that were recommended but still no joy.
