Cutting out footage from home dvd

hi,some years ago i transferred a video tape of my kids onto a dvd.
Now on that dvd is some footage of my niece when she was much younger,id like as an xmas present to get all the footage with her onto a seperate dvd,is there a program that will strip out the bits of footage i want?

Freeware please?

Windows Movie Maker.
When you import from the DVD it automatically splits it into scenes. Just drag the ones you want to the timeline. Make new film then copy it to a new DVD.
