Capture ananlog video (device?)

I am wanting to capture some VHS video tapes to my computer.

I thought of a capture card... does anyone have any advice on what card? I got a KWorld product from Ebuyer but the software was not very good at all and didn't capture well, (and also was unstable).

I also have a Canon GL2 camcorder and heard that you can capture from VHS *through* the camcorder and to the computer direct.
I have a S-Video and AV input (I think!) hmmm..

Any comments?

Windows Movie Maker will do it - its built in part of XP so it is free.
Download trial version of Ulead MovieMaker 10 this will do it
You get the full version for 30 days afterwhich you must buy it - about £45

Arcsoft Totalmedia trial version. It works just fine with my KWorld Hybrid TV adapter:

I need a better capture device than KWorld.
The software crashes my laptop.:s

I can get SCART->COMPOSITE_VIDEO working on my laptop. Sadly my VHS tapes are PAL and the camcorder is NTSC (since I bought it in the States)

Any ideas on a really good capture card for a laptop?
