.... reads the ad' for Hitachi's 3TB SATA3 Deskstar hard drive.

I recall similar worded ad's for PC's with a 3Gb drive not so very long ago.

OK OK progress etc etc but is it just me or is software and the files we keep just getting bigger and bigger ?

Yes I have started scanning my old neg's to enable them to be viewed on the digital photo frame.

Yes I do back up my documents etc.

Wonder what the max size hard drive you will be able to fit in a 3.5" bay ?

We're seeing an increase in the number of threads posted in the wrong place, and particularly in Speakers Corner. This area of the forum is the place for topics of general interest, and shouldn't be used for threads that relate to problems with hardware or software, or disputes with suppliers etc.

Speakers Corner seems to me to be the right forum for Dragon_Heart's discussion.

I feel this is in the right section as the OP is only discussing HDD sizes.

But it is an interesting subject, with file sizes increasing 3TB drives will soon be the norm.

I remember when 50GB HDD,s were thought of as massive.

Now I have a total of 1.75TB of storage space and im running out of space fast.

To many games installed :)

Yes my file sizes are bigger now, I do wonder sometimes why I need to keep all this data.. I also have started to scan in my photos and making slideshows and DVD's use up a lot of space.
It's a hobby ;-)

It will be interesting to see what the max size hard drive you will be able to fit in a 3.5" bay is in the future. Maybe it will go over to SSD drives.

" shouldn't be used for threads that relate to problems with hardware or software "

But it's NOT a problem just a comment.

I do have a 'clear out' from time to time but this is mostly work in progress files that have been complated.
