XLN Broadband and Outgoing mails

Anyone use XLN broadband? Can you still send emails?

I have a friend who has two XLN telecom lines, one at home one in the business, both with broadband. In the last few days she has been unable to send emails from either, though she receives mails okay and has internet access. Emails are being sent via diffrent email providers (Demon and BT). No changes have been made to smtp settings on PCs.

XLN were upgrading the service to 8MB from 21 Sept and it is since then that problems have occured. She has tried contacting XLN but (so far) despite promises to call her back they have not done so. In the notes on the service upgrade no changes were indicated as being required on smtp server settings or smtp port.

Resolved after eventual contact with XL Technical support.

smtp address needs to be changed from smtp.xln.co.uk to smtp.managebroadband.co.uk

XLN seem to have failed to inform customers of the need for this and then been swamped by help calls so that they in effect had to cut-off their technical support for a few days. Would have helped had they posted useful information like this on their website as well as the strong sales pitch material.
