a couple of weeks ago I bought a new computer an AMD Athlon XP 2500 with 10/100 RJ45 networking port. I loaded Win 98 SE and all appeared well, I`m with NTL cable broadband, No problem. then I decided to upgrade to Win XP !. Now I do have a problem, XP will not recognise the adapter, I`ve obviously loaded XP drivers as needed. I have had to uninstall XP to make this contact. Any one else have this problem ?

that WinXP doesn't recognise your adapter as a generic ethernet interface card.

When you upgraded from Win98Se did you notice if the card was showing in device manager?

You might try reinstalling WinXP - this time without the card in the machine. Then add the card and start the computer. This should force WinXP to detect it and install the software.
