Hi, I have just come across this website offering free websites and just wondered if anyone had used them and if it is legit and if it's any good? Reviews and comments greatly welcome before I sign up as they ask for your bank details at the beginning to set up direct debit so wanted to be sure it's safe. many thanks dax

Maybe I'm biased, but I'm bound to question how any company can produce a back end that is sophisticated enough to run an online store effectively and securely and then give it away. I assume that the well known companies listed at the bottom of the page have paid something for a premium service. I don't think much of those amateurish templates either: they don't present a sufficiently professional image - which is more than normally important for a storefront - and one of them even has display errors that have affected readability. Nice of it to knock £100 off the SEO, but I wonder whether it has an SEO specialist on board - you just know what you're getting and with whom you're dealing. It's not something on which you can skimp at all and neither is the front end (appearance and usability) or the back end (functionality and security). Think carefully before you sign up to anything.

Thx for your advise. This would be my first website so I am unsure really where to start and what is needed. Also I need to keep costs down as all new businesses do. Any ideas on where I could start?

Again, I'm bound to say it, but you should always consult a professional when embarking on a serious project like an online store. And you should not be putting too much emphasis on cost cutting if you want a really effective project outcome.

Only the setup is free, running costs are £90 a month and then you will need a host, domain name,an internet merchant bank account etc.
You need to delve a bit deeper.
