The difference between a "Programme" and an "App".

I only ask because Win 8 and the upcoming Win 10 come with an App store where games etc can be bought and run on these OS.

I still enjoy playing around on my FSx programme and a couple of others of the same ilk, on Win 7.

Will they run on this modern stuff which is being churned out by MS?

Thanks.

Programmes are applications, as are Apps. Pine Man is right - there's no difference.
