Wi-fi - USB or PCMCIA

Is there any major difference in the ability to send and receieve data between USB LAN adapters or PCMCIA wireless cards? My USB adapter seems to get a much stronger signal than my PCMCIA adapter from my router....strange

Not that strange if you think about it. One is closely attached to the computer (PCMCIA)and next to electronic interference whilst the other is probably at the end of a USB lead in "open ground".

I will go along with Taff™ on this one through bitter experience except it was a PCI card on a tower not a pcmcia card, but the same thing ariel near the electronic interference of the PC = poor signal

but my USB adapter is not attached to a cable, it plugs straight into the laptop port, if anything closer to the CPU and HDD than the PCMCIA card
