Which DSLR camera would be best for me?

Hello, I'm looking into buying a DSLR camera, I know absolutely nothing about them to be honest. I want one that can record HD videos and take high quality long distance pictures. I'm not sure how much I'm willing to spend but probably around £300.

£300 will buy you a DSLR that will also do HD video such as the Canon 1100D, unfortunately you would need an extra lens for long distance. Depending on what you mean by long distance you could pay anything from £98 to many £1000's.

The 1100D would cost you around £250 This includes an 18-55mm lens. A Sigma 70-300mm lens £98. Making a total of £348

I don,t use an SLR camera but have a Panasonic Lumix TZ35 which has a brilliant 20 x zoom and records video in HD. Costs around £200 but can be found cheaper. It is also small and fits in top pocket.
