Hi

I am in a dilemma. dont know what speakers to get for my PC. Mainly for music and little bit of films.

Logitech Z2300 £90

Or these BOSE COmpaninion 3 for £200

HEard the Bose in person, sound so crisp!! But heard very good reviews regarding Z2300 and its half the price.

What one do you people recommend?

Bose any day if you can afford them.

any others?

I was having exactly the same dilemma as you not so long ago. There seems to be very few articles on the internet actually comparing the two.

Most research suggests that BOSE speakers are over-priced for what they are and that you're just paying for the brand.

I eventually decided on the Logitech Speakers which are excellent, however, I cannot help feeling that the BOSE speakers sounded better when I heard them (which was many years ago though). I would like to listen to them again since I purchased the Logitech speakers but all the shops that sell them locally don't actually demonstrate them any more.

Another set I was considering which are supposed to be in the same league (in fact, most people recommend these specifically over the BOSE Companion 3) is the Acoustic Energy Aego M. I've heard these and these too are very good. The only reason I didn't buy them was because you had little control over the bass (3 settings) and I was living in University Halls of Residence at the time.

Good luck with whichever set you choose.

If you want more information of the AE Aego M then here are some reviews:

The RRP is £99 but this is the cheapest I could find them click here (£79)

Hi-fi specialist speakers manufacturer Altec Lansing also makes a range of excellent computer speakers:

The prices may surprise you.

If you purchase a decent set speakers, their ability to reproduce the sound exceeds most of the storage methods (MP3 etc) to store it. CDs and DVD are of course an exception to this and will reproduce superbly.

Most PC systems have a collection of small Speakers and a Woofer. If you are an audiophile then you will be aware that a selection of squeaks accompanied by dull thumps is acceptable in a movie but not if you really enjoy a musicians performance. It's not really as bad as that because the whole audio range is covered but the level of fidelity is usually sorely lacking
