im not 100% sure if this is to be posted here.if not mods, feel free to delete/move/moan at me/whatever
Anyway, im thinking of getting a new pc. here is what i have thought about getting:

4 Bay Computer Case c/w front usb
80 GB Hard Drive ( 7200 )
2500 AMD Processor
A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard
ATI Radeon 9600 128 TV & DVI out Graphics Card
512 MB 333 DDR
DVD Drive
CDRW Drive
1.44 Floppy Drive
300w ATX Power Supply

I got a quote for £550. Is this reasonable, and is the system good (for playing games, surfing web, doing homework and coursework)?

seems ok.it will play 2oo3 games ok,that graphics card seems to be a good mid price card.if you are into the newest games you will upgrade next year but if not it will do what you want, internet will be fine as well as homework etc, people get by on a lot less

if your spec includes a 17 inch monitor, OK. If not get another quote or two.

Compare prices of parts with eclipse-computers.co.uk. Get latest Micro Mart Magazine where they advertize also.

Are you thinking of purchasing a 64 bit processor as it may "last" longer than a 32 bit processor?

Shepley computers are worth a look.
