My trusted Fujitsu-Siemens decided to die on me yesterday after 3 years of loyal service.

It's left me in a bit of a quandary - do I buy now, or wait until Vista comes out in Feb?

Essentially I want to spend up to around £800 and my requirments are:

- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (preferably 2GHz at least)
- At least 2Gig Ram
- At least 128MB dedicated graphics card
- 100+ GB HD
- S-Video output
- 15.4 widescreen

All the other gubbins (i.e. wireless, DVD rewriter, etc) tend to be pretty much standard nowdays. Not bothered about bluetooth or webcams etc.

Found this that pretty much matches my requirements, what do people think:

Or am I being stupid and should I wait for Vista regardless?

Any insightful help will be greatfully appreciated

my advice is to wait for a machine that has Vista preloaded. That will ensure that you have a computer on which Vista runs perfectly, with none of the potential worries about hardware driver incompatibilities.

So what will Vista offer me aove my current XP then?

Essentially I will be using the notebook for general web usage. I will also be using a lot of Dreamweaver and Photoshop, hence the need for a dedicated graphics card.

I also play Football Manager a lot and a few other games.

I may want to dable in some video editing in the future also.

You could buy now & then install the Vista Upgrade later.
Do you get to visit Selhurst Park much?
