The 1/4-mile queue for a 42in TV: Thousands of bargain hunters wait overnight outside Currys.

The problem seems to be how to get the goods home.

My copy of the Mail has a photo of someone carrying an LG TV on his shoulder...:-)

Just hope he didn't drop it.

Its sods law isn't it? I bought a new telly only a month ago.

You live near Croydon then?

Good to know people still haven't learnt that cars have a finite capacity.

I used to regularly have customers trying to fit 8ft slides into small hatchbacks, and one woman came in to buy 2x 40kg weight lifting sets, then to the disbelief of everyone in the shop lifted her toddler out of it's stroller and dropped the first set on the seat - guess what happened next?

Apart from failing somewhat to understand your remark about vehicle capacities, a 42in TV will fit into most cars across the back seat.

The 42ins refers to screen size measured diagonally across the (widescreen) display area.

You could probably get a 50in set in an upper medium class vehicle such as a Mondeo.

Main concern is to keep the set upright and stable.

Look at the pictures on the link...

The comments are interesting at the bottom of the article.

One says free publicity, well the cost is the loss on the sale items.

The other says it's negative press. People will resent the fact it was a stunt, that they missed out on, and will buy else where.

I wonder which is true.

Perhaps you should read my link from yesterday (15:47) again...:-)

Loss leaders on sales or the opening of new stores are old hat.

So this offer was not available at every one of their shops then?????????
O well! I feel better about it then as I certainly don`t live anywhere near Croydon.
