Warning for Xbox 360 owners...

  rodriguez 13:07 02 Nov 06

If you've recently bought an Xbox 360, or thinking of doing so, then be careful as there is a software update that Microsoft released for it that incorrectly identifies new boxes as modded or "chipped" and then stops them working - giving an E-71 error. I think Microsoft know about the update problem and are trying to fix it, so it's best to wait until they release the new update that won't ruin your box. click here for information about someone who has had this problem.

I found out the hard way yesterday :-(
I am waiting for a reply from either the retailer (play.com) for a replacement, or Microsoft for a repair.

The update has been, erm, updated this morning. They state they have removed the coding that was causing the problem.
