Video Card Upgrade from GeForce MX460

  Nigel-331402 13:33 13 Aug 04

I've currently got a GeForce MX460 card with 64Mb RAM but it doesn't appear to be Directx9.0 compatible.

I've been recommended the Radeon 9600 Pro with 128/256 Mb DDR ram but they don't seem to have a video in capability.

I after recommendations for a video card that meets the following:

Directx 9 compatible
128/256Mb DDR ram (or better)
AGP 4X compatible
Video in (DV support)
2nd monitor/TV out would be good
Under £150 (?)

It will be going into a 2GHz (400Mh FSB) Pc with 512Mb DDR ram and 5.1 sound

To be used with mainly Video work but some games (I fancy taking on Doom 3).

i have also been looking for an upgrade from an mx460 and need vivo, have been looking at the following an msi fx5900xt-vtd has vivo sold at click here and click here

or asus a9600xt-tvd from click here

hope this is some help to you, both cards are direct 9 compatable

Totally disagree with BITS&BOBS no other card than Radeon 9800 pro total rubbish. I have a MSI FX5900XT and its brilliant plays everything at higher setting than my monitor can take a great graphics card cost £115. Not saying its better than 9800 but it plays everything I want and its cheaper.

So if you had a budget of £150 and wanted the best for your money, you would look past the Radeon 9800Pro and buy the FX5900XT??? and save £20?

Dont think so.

a 5900xt is slower than a 9800pro.fact not opinion
