USB Hubs with parallel ports

I have just taken deliery of a new laptop from Dell. I'm very pleased with it, except it has arrived with no parallel port, just a video port and 2xUSB's (OK I should have checked!). I have an aging (but very good) printer, but it has no USB connectivity. I've started reading about Belkin USB hubs with 4 USB ports, 1xparallel port and 1xserial port. Presumably this hub connects to my laptop's USB port? (question 1). Second question is do these things really work? Will I be able to attach my printer to this hub, along with other USB devices? Sounds too good to be true? Are there any "gotchas"?

I have just swapped a "wonderful" Canon 620 for a Canon i850.

The quality if the prints is better but the real difference is the speed.

It used to be that new menus for the Coffee House took me all evening. Now the job is done in under 20 minutes. It would be quicker, but I leave the prints time to dry before I print the other side.

I am saving myself 3 hours every time I do a reprint.

Your old printer may be good, but how much do you value your personal time at!
