In respnse to a petition concerning the capping of "Unlimited Broadband" accounts the government have issued a statement.

So, it seems the ISP's can get away with it.

Well, what did you expect? ISPs will have been very careful that their terms and conditions and the way they describe their services are legal. You've no grounds to petition for change. Go to another ISP if you don't like your current one. God knows, there are enough to choose from click here

They can't get away with anything if you don't sign up, can they?

The government's response is the right one - it can't intervene in this matter when there is already legislation in place to deal with unfair contract terms and misleading advertisements.
