It is about time that I bought a new TV (if there are nay avaialble during the World Cup...) but I havre to confess that I am not sure what to look for other than a good TV at a good size (i.e. for the living room not the Odeon) and one that is future proofed to an extent.

Any tips?
Good buys available?

I realise that this is a rather vague request but I am hoping that somebody may already have researched for thier own interest and be able to share some pointers.

LCD, 32" or 37" (not plasma as they are dire) with HD ready and this will do you for at least 15 years. CRT TV's are sooooooo 20th century ;-))

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I will search for 32" LCD with HD ready and see what I come across.

Any makes to avoid in yours or anybody elses experience?

Not really, I wouldn't touch a plasma TV with a ten foot pole.

You could have a look at the top one of these. Had one for over a year and it is superb.

you may like to read about LCD versus plasma.
One thing for sure is that for a given comparative size, plasma TVs consume more power.
