TV or PC?

The TV has died. the wife insists on a new one...groan.

I wonder if anyone would now buy a PC and use as a TV?

It would be 30% for playing DVDs, 50% watching TV and 20% computing.

We would want a 17" LCD screen either way : the only good TVs like this are still £800 or thereabouts.

thank you for passing on your experiences.

£500 and you will get a superb wide-screen TV...no contest. Watching DVDs etc., on a 17" screen is truly dreadful.

Go for a widescreen TV, I have a 17" CRT and 17" TFT, neither are much good for DVD's, especially when compared to the widescreen TV (Our TV's a Toshiba if you're interested). You'll get a good TV for under £500.
