Doe anyone know what format the HD recordings are on the Sky+ box and can I transfer these via my computer to my Archos personal video player other than in real time analog?

Sky+ HD recordings are encrypted, if you put the Sky+ HD into your computer you will not be able to read it.

Sorry my fault, we may be at cross purposes with HD. I meant the hard drive recordings, not High Definition,i.e. just general digital racordings to the PVR hard drive.

General Sky+ recordings are indeed encoded, whats actually recorded is the compressed satellite stream. It cannot be decoded on a PC.

The easiest way is to buy a DVD recorder and record from your SKY box onto DVD.

Then transfer to the computer, and re-encode/transfer to the Archos (sorry don't know what format the Archos uses)
