Total Care laptop repairs - any experience

I returned my Evesham laptop to them in Dec 2007 due to internal power connection broken - it was outside warranty so was expecting quote. This then disappeared into the Evesham/Total care black hole until very recently when had call from Total Care ready to quote for repair(expected in region of £300 for new motherboard on laptop originally costing £700 in 2006.) Have not had quote yet and am chasing this but would value opinions on whether getting Total Care to do repair is a good idea or just get the laptop back and find another repairer.Thanks.
