Nintendo Switch review: Hands on with the intuitive modular console and its disappointing games…
Come on Tiscali what’s the problem?
My friend has a Tiscali PAYG dialup account but now wants to change to Broadband. His telephone exchange is BB enabled. Tiscali are offering a few options. Broadband X3 (150kbps) at £15.99 per month with free setup and free modem, Broadband X5 (256kbps) at £19.99 per month with free modem, Broadband X10 (512kbps) unlimited at £24.99 with free setup and free modem or Broadband X10 (512kbps) restricted to 50 hours per month for £19.99 with free setup and free modem. Because he is at work (like most of us) all day the BB X10 for 50 hours (he won’t use 50 hours) seemed like a good deal at £19.99. Tiscali said he can’t have that option, the only option he can have is BB X10 unlimited at £24.99 per month. If an exchange is BB enabled I would have thought you could pick whatever speed you wanted. What is the difference between 512kbps unlimited and 512kbps restricted to 50 hours a month, after which time you are charged 2p per minute?
crx1600. Yes it is a repeated question because we still can't get to the bottom of it. Tiscali are still openly advertising all these options but when trying for them we are consistently told they are not available. Only the 512kbps at £24.99 is available. So, should they still be advertising the other options if they can't deliver? Just noticed that BT are now offering a 512kbps connection at £19.99 with a 1gb download limit. Will try that.
crx1600. Thanks for your input. Just phoned Tiscali and they say that he can only have the full 512kbps (10x)or the 256kbps (5x)packages because the exchange he is connected to for the discounted packages is full? So he is going to try BT themselves. Will post the outcome.
I notice from an e-mail letter today that dabs.com is advertising Tiscali's £15.99 150kbps service including the free offers.
Presumably dabs gets a cut of the financial return, which makes you wonder why Tiscali can't cut the price itself and encourage more people to give up dialup Anytime access?
No problem with this anymore. As Tiscali doesn't appear to have a presence on this Forum that's their loss. My friend has decided not to go with Tiscali and has found another supplier at the right price for what he wants. Thread now ticked.
