The August issue of PC Advisor has the Teac DV-W58GA DVD Writer as its 'Best Buy' but I can't find it for sale anywhere - let alone for £66.00 - not even in the online Teac website shop! Can anyone help with a source of supply?

I phoned teac and they first described an external drive, but eventually discoved the one mentioned in august mag. promised it would take 4-5 working days from 1st July. still waiting.

Mine finally arrived today(the Teac version). Can't give any feedback as i haven't had time to install it yet

As I've now replied to another posting, it arrived without software and Insight claim that the £66 version is WITHOUT software; if you want software as described in the PCA article it costs £90+ I'm sending mine back. Won't touch Insight with a barge pole in future.

It will be because the drive is an OEM version - that's all most people require as they already have the software such as Nero; the only driver required is the basic Window CDROM driver.

You've passed up an opportunity to save some money if you already have the software. Most drives are sold in this form today.

crx1600 has pointed too the fact that many CD/DVD/CD-RW/DVD-RW drives on the market are merely rebadged models from specialist manufacturers.

It's exactly the same with a very large range of computer components and peripherals.

NEC 2510 OEM Ivory dual layer DVD-Writer (Dual Layer +R 2.4x, DVD+- x8, RW+-x4) is £51.41 including VAT at Scan of Bolton on its TodayOnly page, the ND2500A DVD rewriter at just over £45 and the 8x version at £53.99.

OEM of course.....

Yes, Stuartli, but I DON'T have the software - that's the problem. (see this link to my problem, - don't want to hijack davidtoyne1's issue)
