Tablet, phone,notebook? On a budget!

For most of the time I use a desk top computer. However, it would be useful to have a means of using the web and occasionally showing photo's on something more mobile - with a reasonable screen size for viewing.

I have added notebook in the title but realistically, I doubt that my budget would allow. I could upgrade my phone but I'm concerned that for the additional requirements stated, a phone would be too small. I have little interest in 'apps' and none in movies: this is very much for work, not leisure.

There are many cheaper tablets on the market and my biggest query is would one of these be adequate for the stated use? If so, which would you recommend? The other option is to wait a little longer - as with all technology, as new things come along I may get a better grade of tablet at a lower price - with patience!!

Any advise appreciated - the number of options and tec info is very overwhelming.

IMO a tablet would be better than a netbook but I also think that to get good results then you need to spend about the same.
