Suitable wireless modem

I'm thinking of getting a wireless modem for a laptop. At present I have a desktop wired into a speedtouch BB modem which I will be replacing.
My son has a Netgear DG834G modem which has been trouble free since installed two years ago.
Should I get the same or is it now "old hat"?
I'd welcome recommendations and cheap suppliers, please.
My desk top is running on Vista as will the laptop when I buy it. If my son brings his laptop it will be running on WinXP.

From the sounds of thinks the DG834G will work fine for you. It's a 54mbps router which, unless you want very high speed data transfers between PC's on the same network, will provide perfectly sufficient bandwidth even on a high speed internet connection.

Thanks. I will google around for a cheap price.
