Huawei P10 review
What I'm looking for:
A computer that runs smoothly.
Basic video editting
Most of the current pc games. (supreme commander is the heaviest thing I've got that I can't currently run.)
Vista 65(if its released by the time people have replied) :P jokes
As most games and programs are quite big these days including vista itself I guess quite a big reliable hard drive.
My current monitor is a 19" tft. I could probably do with some which has a great picture quality rather than going for size.
quad core cpu, more and more games will soon be able to use them, supreme commander already can.
4870 0r 4850 graphics card
22 inch monitor, samsung
airy case with a quality psu with the 80% + logo
vista 64 bit runs ok.
Thanks. I think 4gb will be needed though Brigadier.
I'm okay at putting everything together its just the part of not having a clue what goes with what! That is compatible components not where the ram goes on the motherboard.
I would get an asus p45 motherboard as they make it easy to fit the usb and sound connectors from the case to motherboard, many to choose from, corsair memory, intel quad core cpu socket 775. the spec of the board will tell you what speed of ram you can install.
As an example only, I customised this PC click here for just under ~£745 at one of the 'cheapest' pre-built sites, DinoPC:
* Intel® Core 2 Quad Q8200
* Standard CPU heatsink & fan
* Asus P5N-D (nForce 750i chipset, SLI)
* 4GB Corsair DDR2 800mhz XMS2
* 500GB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s
* 20x DVD±RW DL S-ATA Lightscribe
* 20x DVD±RW DL [always good to have 2 in case one fails]
* NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB
* Onboard 7.1 Audio
* Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit [or 64-bit for the same price]
* Nero, PowerDVD, McAfee Virus Scan
[NO keyboard + mouse: as wireless is not suitable for gamimg]
[NO monitor: as not good enough, or too expensive]
* 650W Thermaltake Toughpower
* Antec Nine Hundred case
* 3 Year Bronze Warranty
That leaves ~£155 to get a monitor & keyboard+mouse from elsewhere. There are reasonably good 22" TFTs (with DVI) available for £120. A suitable gaming mouse is £15-20.
To see how the above compares with individual components, I'll be back to do one off eBuyer (& other sites) if I can. G
Thanks citadel and crossbow as per usual. That spec sounds great with the possibility of having more money on a monitor!
Does everyone reccommend quad over dual?
Have a talk with Lambda tek thye adivsied me on the upgrade bits when I re-built my old PC to 2008 standards That included a new motherboard & phenom quad core
Prices are reasonable since they come direct from manufacturers Lambda tek simply order all the bits like a middle man
