click here

you could start with this.......I have a P4P800 deluxe which is almost identical but a bit older..That supports the P4 Prescott S478 3.4 GHz (but I couldn't find one at a decent price).Mine's now running a 3.2 GHz Prescott(At 3.7GHz so I'm not too bothered about not having a 3.4,lol)

i currently have a ga-8I875 click here - but that has died on me (after about a year). I would get another one if I could find somewhere that sold it.

So I'm a little reluctant to revert to an 865 - which is a bit of a backwards step is it not?

Well it is....but in the case of Asus it is not a lot slower.Anyway click here for the full range of Pentium boards at Micro direct.You will find I875 based boards as well as the I865 I suggested...it was only meant as a starting point(but I do like the Asus boards).

Thanks for the advice - but I just can't seem to find a suitable board - here is exactly what I'm looking for:

* a 478 socket board
* a board that supports a Prescott P4 3.4ghz
* a board with Hyper Threading technology
* ideally a Gigabyte board (but doesn't have to be) (I was hoping that if I stick with Gigabyte I wouldn't have to do a fresh install ??)

Everything seems to be geared towards the 775 socket now - not much help for us with 478 sockets
