Browsing Ebay and found a seller selling Office 2007 "BETA" for £2.50. Three points

1. The seller does not mention that this software is "BETA" and when you see it, it looks as if its the full product even though the people with a good knowledge of Office know that it isn't going to be released to Early 2007.

2. The seller is selling a Beta version of Office 2007 for £2.50 which is available for free from Microsoft themselves. Complete Con. He even has the cheek to say he has another 15 available. All I'm seeing now is either freeware or beta versions of software being sold on Ebay which is wrong and conning money from people. Only if you are experienced with computer software and know that Office isn't released and other free software then you are being caught in the trap.

3. It comes on a CD with a so called "SERIAL" but I know that when you want Office 2007 beta you have to activate it online when you install it so this is another lie. errrrggghh

Is this illegal to sell free "BETA" versions of software and does anyone not think it's totally wrong to do this??

BTW This is not the only software like this being wrongly sold on EBay

You should let Microsoft's UK division become aware of the fact and any other examples.

Also notify eBay, who will remove the auction, and take action against the seller.

This type of thing is happening on a to frequent basis, and it can only be stopped by reporting the offenders. You may also find that the postage rates for this type of sale, are grossly inflated, on occasions.

It's been pulled.

must have worked, because it has now been removed. The same seller is still selling things like "Service Pack 2", "Vista Beta" and so on.
