Selling a domain name !!! How much?

Hi

I have just recieved a letter from a company which has the same Name as a domain name I own asking if I will sell the domain!

Where do I begin trying to figure out how much I should be asking ???

Any advice gratefully recieved.

Depends what it's worth to you?
What is the domain name??

Its the 1st 4 characters of my postcode.

To be honest its worth nothing more to me than email forwarding. More interested in finding out how much its worth to them!

p.s. Its a local small company - just seems to be starting up - not a multinational unfortunately :-)

Depends on how badly the company wants the domain name.

You could invite it to make a written offer - you don't have to sell if you don't wish to.

But make sure that you renew the domain name as and when necessary...:-)

This is what I found on eBay. Not many going for huge sums of money, unless you want a microsoft type domain name (£375,000).

Have a look through and base your price on what you see.

PS. If your domain name is a .co.uk ending it could still be available as a .com, .org.uk .biz etc.

Mine is indeed .co.uk - the .com appears to be registered some anonymous company.

I'd snap up .org and .net if I were you, then say you have all three and ask the company what it's prepared to offer you. What a very nice position to be in!

They already have those!

Had a young bloke on the phone offering me £25.

Sounds like a Web/Graphics type company hes starting up!

If it's .com or .co.uk keep it and see if they may offer you more in 12 months?

I would not take less than £1000
