Recommendations for low cost notebook

  DTM 20:51 27 Mar 04

Would anyone have any recommendations for a low cost (sub £750 in VAT & delivery) notebook. Mainly just want to run Win XP, Office XP, email, internet and general games e.g. Soldier Fortune or Age of Empires. Would also connect to my wirless network at home (but would purchase PCMIA card separately).

Thanks in advance.

Comet has an Acer with AMD Athlon processor instead of the belittled Intel Celeron, this doesn't come with Microsoft Works but does come with a trial edition of Nortons Antivirus and copy fo PowerDVD. The OS is Windows XP-Home, all this for £599 (inc. Vat) can only be bought via internet site however click here.

After much research I bought the Acer mentioned by johnnie-mcdougall for £599 from a local Comet store about 6 weeks ago. I have to say that it is a very competant machine for the money.

I did add another 256MB of RAM (£29.36 inc p+p)
