I have just recently bought a Toshiba Satelite 4030 CDT laptop of a freeserve auction.
The laptop worked fine for a couple of days but now the screen had gone funny.

Its a 15" screen and the top 2" of the screen goes blue and other funny colours. If you tap the back of the screen gently it soon goes then you wont have any problems for the rest of the day.

Its not all of the screen only the top 2" its as if someone has but a ruler across it and decided to mess around with the top 2"

I took it to mu local computer shop they said i neeed a new screen which could cost up to £600.

Another shop said there could faulty wiring or lose connections.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Could it be the laptop was damaged in the post.

What can i do help?

Have you tried the Tosh site for tech. assistance to see whether this is a common fault ?

Unless you can find a trustworthy and technically competent friend you will have a hard decission to make. Not much comfort but I suppose you could ask for an estimate after they've opened it up, rather than guessing before-hand.
