Report: We are currently aware that some customers might have difficulties sending outbound mail. This is due to one of the SMTP servers suffering a minor fault which is currently being looked at by our network engineers.
Symptoms: Customers when sending mail may receive an error within their mail client indicating that no mail was sent. However, if customers retry sending, their mail will be sent. The issue is related to a fault affecting one of our SMTP mail cluster which means customer connecting to the affected server will be unable to send mail and simply retrying will resolve the issue.
Actions: Our onsite engineers are currently working on the affected server but may need to take the server offline. To facilitate this we have removed the affected server from the mail cluster by updating the PIPEX DNS, which will stop customers being directed to the problem server.
As the DNS records begin to propagate across the authoritative servers the impact on customers will be completely removed. This should only take a few hours to complete but we have already seen some customers benefiting from these changes.
Please do not make any changes to your SMTP server settings as this may have a detrimental impact once the problem has been resolved.
PIPEX sincerely apologise for this problem and any inconvenience it may be causing. We are working hard to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
